First and foremost, Rachel Sabotini is totally right.

I should just repeat that phrase often, since whenever I'm in the heat of character zeal Rache can be counted on to remember the finer points like, oh, humanity, and plot and the need for reason within a drama.

In this case, she told me flat out that Shane could NOT survive season two of The Walking Dead. And damn her, she was right. As I watched today's marathon (the husband is crazy into it, which is nice), I got why a wolf like Shane can generally pass in the world--when he has enough comforts, enough pack, and enough authority not to need to go to any extremes. But when things get crazy, he throws out the rules.

Sometimes that's sexy. But it's not necessarily gallant or redeemable. I really wanted to conflate the sexy with the redeemable.

On the other hand, it has given me inspiration for more stories, which is always a great thing.

To Rachel: mea culpa. I should always listen to you, no matter how much I want something to turn out differently.

To the WD creators: I'm *still* bummed that you sent Shane down that road. I get it, i see why the sum of the events had to add up to his death, but I'm still bummed. ::wanky sigh::
