So I sold another story.

And I'm beginning to wonder what the big deal was, years ago, when I feared submitting. Because this most recent dabble, I wrote in a week, between and betwixt a ridiculously hectic work schedule, got--of course--excellent feedback from Megan about making sure both characters were actually equally visible on the page. I incorporated her fb as quickly as I could, submitted the story, and got it accepted. A third sale.

I lie (not about the sale). I think what makes me nervous about submitting something isn't whether someone will buy it, but how invested I am in it. The move invested I am (like with my Skip Trace au), the less willing I am to resist it being rejected. The stories that I write "to sell," I'm finding I have great facility with; they're as easy to write as any piece of fan fiction, and the different exercise is interesting (originating the characters, describing them clearly on the page, "introducing" them well to readers who don't know them at all). The rest is nearly identical, since I'm selling m/m "romance," and since I have generally stopped writing stories in a white room where nothing happens and they Just Talk.

So it's kind of fun. :)

Life is good. Work is extremely, exhaustingly plentiful. New puppy ROCKS, and gets play dates with a friend's dog every morning to tire her out before she tires *us* out.

Sherlock also rocks: "I'm not a psychopath, I'm a high-functioning sociopath; do your homework." I haven't been able to bring myself to read any fic for it, though. (I was so disappointed with the paucity of Burn Notice fic about the characters I cared for--and then further annoyed when a bazillion [okay, 5] stories about Michael/Jesse cropped up within two episodes of his appearance on the show--that I'm leery of fanfic. Which I'm sure I'll get over as soon as my work schedule relaxes a little.)
