World's End School

The new term for the students (and teachers) of World's End School was scheduled to start on Tuesday.   There would be new students arriving, old students returning, and even a slight change in staff after a rather unfortunate mishap involving a sentient sousaphone that escaped from the band room.

June Sweeny was briskly arranging the desks into neat rows, making plans to discuss the coming week's lessons with Mr. Wolfe.  Other High School and Middle School teachers sipped coffee and griped about the quite literally possessed copy machine, and lively debated the pros and cons of exorcism vs. offerings.

In another part of the school the Elementary and Primary teachers hooted with laughter, and hung paper snowflakes and snowmen to greet their students. Two of the more magically inclined created an illusion to make it seem as if it were gently snowing in the hall.

The School was open to all who wished to attend it.   There were courses of study and classes for everyone from Preschool to Adult.  They were always looking for volunteers to help with the youngest students, and sometimes even for a few of the older ones.   Admission was open, and there was no tuition.

Today the doors were open, inviting visitors, prospective students, and even prospective employees.  In the entryway is a large tile mosaic of a great seal---in the middle is the Latin phrase "Aut disce aut discede",  with one arrow pointing down the hall and the other....out the door.
