Adventure Summary 2: 'Where, O death, is thy sting?' -OR- 'Fun' with scorpions.

The party sets off in search of ADVENTURE and scorpions. Upon learning that scorpions are attracted to vibrations, they attempt to vary their pace and rhythm as they travel. This results in a peaceful journey until they discover the partially-eaten/dissolved body of one of Nadira's fellow Order Of The Scorpion members, identified by his scorpion

Brier sinks to the sand as Ko releases her. She can see Emile, in the center of an anti-venom themed hub-bub but suddenly she feels the pain that the adrenaline kept at bay. Suddenly she is very tired and she can't seem to summon the energy to fight her way through.

In a minute. He is alive. I will fight my way through in a minute when my head clears..., she thinks

She looks down at her upper arm and feels a little sick, remembering Ko's words about keeping her veins inside. There are thankfully none visible, but she can see more of the inside of her arm than she ever wanted to.

There will be lectures given later to all the wounded, but for the moment, Combeferre is mainly concerned with their physical well-being.

"Pardieu, could everyone please refrain from antagonizing the giant arachnids in the future?" It isn't a genuine request, but a comment of frustration at having his comrades wounded.

"But..." Brier stammers. She herself is pretty frustrated. She feels as if that should have gone better. She feels as if she made poor choices that caused others - that caused EMILE - to get hurt.

She shrugs, then winces, immediately regretting the motion. "...sorry for the trouble, Rene. "

Emile limps his slow way closer to Brier, now that he's got some antivenom down him and he's able to function a bit more. "Hey-- hey you alright?" he asks, as he flops down in the sand to lie next to her.

Never mind that neither one of them look particularly alright. He reaches for her hand to give it a squeeze.

"I think I really don't like scorpions none at all."

Combeferre sighs, getting the medical kit ready.

"There is no need to apologize, I am merely worried for you."

Brier squeezes Emile's hand.

"I wanted to push over to you but...Janie was there with the anti-venom and..I am glad you are okay. I wish we'd been more careful"

She looks up at Combferre. "I'm glad you aren't angry. You should look at him first...Ko tried to patch me up already."

"Hey, I got the anti-venom in me, I'll be fine. Rene- look after Brier first," Emile says, in spite of looking mostly flat still. He can just lie here until the doc's done checking up on Brier - it's more important that she gets patched up.

To Brier, he says "I think we were as careful as we could've been. I mean-- not like we were expecting 'em to come at us from all sides. Did you see that huge one Mr. Angelus was fighting? Lord."

Brier smiles and shakes her head. "Hard to miss, wasn't it?" She asks.

While she thinks Emile is in bad shape - worse than her, she does not argue further. Instead she settles onto the cold sand, next to him, thought leaving enough room for Rene to get between them aside from the held hand. She trusts that Rene will know which one of them to look to first.

"You suppose we'll camp here?"
