Niche is hiding up in one of the trees, hunkered down and waiting for her prey.

...When someone walks under her perch, the tiny girl shakes the limb to dislodge a branch's worth of snow on the passerby.

Marce unfortunately has little tolerance for the cold.

She shakes the snow out of her eyes. "What are you doing up there?" she calls to the girl sitting in the tree.

"For what?" Marce asks, stepping away from the tree so she won't have snow fall on her again.

Dressed in pink with giant arm-length mittens, the kid is perched on the branch like a cat.

"Some big animal then?" Marce asks curiously. She tries to keep a smile on her face; this kid reminds her too much of her own little sister.

Actually Marce's sister is a sweet kid with strange moods, but far from feral.

The young woman frowns at the child. "So you're going to throw something at it? Aren't you afraid it will come and get you?"

"Your name is Niche? That's pretty cute," Marce muses. "Don't you think it's cold out here?"

"Lag's dingo, Niche!" She automatically replies, moving right on to the next question. "Super cold."

Marce looks confused at the child's reply as to her name. She shrugs it off. "Maybe you should go inside where it's warmer. You could get sick out here," she suggests.

Marce tries not to smirk at the stubborn little girl. "Your lips are getting a little blue, don't you think?" she says.

She can't help being overprotective, having two younger sisters and a daughter of her own.
