I was facing a year living in Houston with my new hubby as Ex Pats. I was not allowed to work, while he went out each day and met up with various people as he shadowed them, I was left at home figuring out how to run the house and keep myself entertained. We bought a PC and it came with Prodigy, so I started looking around and stumbled across a Star Trek RPG board, from there I built up a small portfolio of characters that I have continued to play with.
The writing dried up when my children were tiny, but then when my daughter was ill and I was spending day after day by her bedside I needed something to keep me sane. I rediscovered STF and started roleplaying with my characters again. I had the time then to become a Gamemaster and rediscovered my writing side. When she was better I carried on with the roleplaying.
As the internet got better my best friend and I discovered we had a shared interest in writing and it sort of rolled on from there. I suspect the reason we both love to write is down to our amazing Infant School where creative writing was encouraged and celebrated.
I have a couple of novels rolling around in my head, but couldn’t seem to get them to behave in my head. Then I realised that my own story was getting in the way and I needed to tell that one first. They say tell what you know, and that sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. So now I‘m working on my memoir and hoping that it will let me clear my head to get back to fiction.
My favourite character Noon, is my alter ego, my guardian angel who leaps into my head and helps me get through surgeries and needles. I enjoy writing about her and seeing where she wants to go.
