Tonight, clothes make the person and the colors of those clothes represent the real you.
Wear something colorful that represents how you REALLY feel and then ACT the way you really feel.
Of course red clashed with her hair. However the point wasn't to look good but to appear bold. Eponine needed it today, of all days.
The eighteen year old carefully smoothed down her red dress before stepping into a pair of matching shoes, and then hurrying out of the boarding house. It was mid-morning, a bit late to start the day but the perfect time to see and be seen.
She arrived at the nearest intersection and crossed, not bothering to look at the signal light.
What's the worst thing you've ever done to your character(s)?
I am known for being particularly merciless to anyone or anything I write about. So let's do this:
1. Alternate Manila Universe (Marcelina and company)
The worst thing has to be nearly killing Marce. To be exact: having her get kidnapped, tortured, raped, and beaten to an inch of her life. She survives but comes away with a horrible case of PTSD and some long-standing gynecological damage that very nearly causes her to lose her second child. The PTSD part is pretty nasty since it nearly undoes her psychological recovery from several years of emotional abuse and drama from growing up at home.
The other main characters get their share too: Emil nearly gets killed and temporarily loses use of his legs in a bomb blast. In fact he still has shrapnel in his right leg, poor man! Darren loses his job, becomes homeless and nearly starves in London. Isadora struggles with depression and attempts to kill herself as a teen. Mark is born with permanent hearing damage, constantly bullied as a child, and deals with the drama of finding his biological parents. Charlize sees her mother die (and is unable to do anything about it), gives up her career plans in order to marry her boyfriend Jace---and discovers eight years later that he has been unfaithful to her. She has to start over with her two daughters as a result of the annullment.
2. Fanfiction universes
One might say that the worst thing I can do to anyone in fanfiction is allowing them to live. Especially with my Les Miserables fanfiction.
So far in my modern day crossover fanfiction, the worst thing that has happened to Eponine is her being found out as a double agent very, very early on---she is linked with one of the city's most powerful men but she runs about with a group of young radicals. She's perhaps the *worst* spy anyone can ask for. Fortunately her boss Simoun hasn't figured out that Eponine has made too many mistakes. When he figures out though, there will be blackmail and bloodshed. It doesn't help that some of Eponine's friends, specifically Marius, Juli, Makaraig, Enjolras, and Paulita are on to her. The girls and Marius won't say anything/don't know what to do about this knowledge. Makaraig and Enjolras though are very much aware that Eponine's presence can lead to all of them running afoul of the police or worse, the military. These two men have their own ways of dealing with this situation: Makaraig tries to romance Eponine to give her less of a reason to turn them all in, while Enjolras deliberately isolates Eponine from some of the group's plans (to the point of having to carry out more than he intends). This is all for starters and the situation will get worse soon.
