Munday embarrassments
Have you ever put your characters into an embarrassing situation just for the hell of it? How do you feel about 'embarrassing' scenes in media? Do they make you laugh, or cringe for the characters instead?
This used to be a staple of my writing during my teenage years. I used to think it would make good comedy, but I realize now that it was usually at the expense of subtlety and character development.
As for scenes in other media, it depends on the character. If the character had it coming, I just go, "Serves you right!" But if it's slapstick or humiliation conga style, I cringe.
