To what extent, if any, are your 'personal issues' present in your writing? Do you write to exorcise particular things that are bothering you? What parts of yourself do you put into your heroes? Your villains? What causes and themes that are important to you personally show up in your writing?
My writing is somewhat a diary of sorts, the more uncensored picture of my mind. Yes, it serves as a personal exorcism, a way of working out problems. I endow my heroes with my idealism and naivete, and give my villains my darkness and cynicism. My heroes are the lives I never lived but might have if I'd chosen differently, and my villains are the lives people wanted me to live.
The themes that show up all the time tend to revolve around social issues and inequality. Now and then the family dramas and intrigues make their way there (especially infidelity subplots), but my writing is always more of a societal treatise
