Twosday: For Once in Her Life
We all have times when we are not at our best - we get sick, we get injured, we enter new situations we know nothing about. Sometimes we need someone to look after us for a while. And sometimes we do the looking after.
Do you find yourself more often taking care of people, or being taken care of yourself?
On her wedding day, she could still remember racing up to that stage in the Baker High auditorium, putting a comforting arm around Piper's shoulders. and then stepping up tthe microphone to go on about a mentor program between seniors and freshmen. She could remember being ten years old and threating to punch any kid who tried to bully Phoebe, one of the youngest in the kindergarten class at Madison Elementary.
She could, anyway. until she didn't want to anymore. Until the evil was strong enough that she only felt lke boxing those memories up and putting them on a shelf in a mental closet.
She was a free agent, then, at least in her own mind. At least until Delic's athame brought the limits of her strength into cold, sharp relief. It didn't take much, after that. Even then, as Cole noted, she didn't even know how to ask -- for protection, for guidance through this strange new world. For an advocate.
