Run your fingers through the dark curls tangled near the nape of his neck, midnight black, unlike the silver everywhere else. Vaguely you think that he will never grow older. He’s snoring finally, his large form in the bed rising and falling like a mountain. The first he’s slept in days, so you put off waking him.

Though someone else is awake. Watch him stretch with that baby shiver and snap to closing his arms and legs. Put off putting him back in his bed because at 8 weeks, with him you feel that all he does is grow older.
