It had become just another way of life.
Go to sleep. Wake up after several hours, heart racing from the remnants of nightmares that clung to the recesses of his mind. Lay quietly for an hour in the hope of drifting off again. Give up and quietly slide out of bed, spending the next several hours practicing with various weapons. Slide back into bed exhausted, and drift off for another hour or two before the start of the day.
Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
Now the nightmares were still there, but he was slowly learning to let go. Hopefully, sleep would follow.
