11.05.13 Oogie boogeyman
Make a list of things that scare you-- or have scared you in the past, perhaps.
1. Um, all the things you're supposed to be scared of, I guess. Xenos and daemons and whatnot. I think 'nids are the worst kind I've run into so far. Tau are really creepy because they're almost shaped like real people, which is, like, blasphemous, eh, but 'nids are like giant bugs and I never really liked spiders. I pretty much try not to think about 'em too much because they say it makes you go crazy.
2. The page in the Primer that teaches you about space travel has this picture of a hull breach with a guy just floating out into space with his hands over his mouth, trying to swim back in, like that's gonna work. Never liked that picture. I'm not really scared of flying or anything, but I'm happier if I'm not near the outside walls, eh?
3. This is probably gonna sound kind of weird but hive cities. I guess if you've never been in one you wouldn't know, but we don't do those on Cadia, we live Terran style, you know? Everybody gets a little house on a street and if you look up there's the sky and all, eh? The Kasrs are pretty big but that's because they're fortified, so it's different. Hive cities are all indoors, and they're taller than anything I ever saw at home - even Kasr Derth isn't as big as some of the hive cities and it's huge. All those people living, like, a mile up inside the city and they never see the sky or the ground - that's really freaky, in my opinion. People who live their whole lives on ships, too, same thing. I don't get freaked out just being in a ship, though, because they're, like, temporary, eh? You use them to go places and then you get out, and if some people live on them that's, like, them being weird, eh? But hive cities are actually for that. One of the other acolytes was born in one and he gets just as freaked out thinking about Cadia - he says it's creepy and unsafe not having a roof over you - so I guess that goes both ways.
I used to be afraid of more things but I pretty much got over it. I mean, there's things like dying, I'd kind of like to not die, but I don't freak out about it, eh?
