Let her sleep the afternoon. She didn’t sleep much the night before. Not Liam, he slept through. Not me, I slept through. The German Shepherd paced for her, that’s how I know. The click click of paws on the floor. Her bare feet on the floor.
Sleep and sleep and sleep. I open the windows, all of them. A cold snap has brought weather through that leaves the air cold and crisp and bright. Bring the outside in. Watch the sheers move. Ghosts on the floor. She needs to eat more. I always think this. Fill up what’s inside, eat.
