Cats!
This is a picture of my sweet Mister Hairless:

I'm definitely a cat person. Nothing against dogs, but kitties are where it's at. My special kitty is Mister Satchmo Hairless - he lives down in New Orleans with Mister Ellis, and he is the best kitty ever. He's so sweet and fun and playful and I like to cuddle him and sing to him. Uncle Met knits him cat sweaters and little costumes sometimes. He's a Sphynx cat - they've got no fur, but they're fuzzy like a peach. He feels really soft and snuggly. Mister Hairless sleeps on my lap when I sit down and read, and when Ellis and I are sleeping, Hairless sometimes comes and curls up on my feet.
He don't like going outdoors though- he's definitely an indoor cat. He catches mice and squirrels in addition to what we feed him - he's very self-sufficient. When I first met MH, he lived up in the attic at Ellis's house and didn't even have a name (he and Ellis don't get along, in spite of Ellis having rescued MH when he was just a kitten). He decided that I was going to be his person when he jumped onto my back and introduced himself to me claws first. We made friends after that, and I've been petting and loving him ever since. Whenever I come home to New Orleans, he comes running up to see me like 'where you BEEN?' because being a cat of course, he doesn't understand that I have to be away for college. I give him a bath once a week because hairless cats have sensitive skin - and despite what they say about cats and water, he doesn't really mind any because I'm very careful and gentle with him.
Mister Hairless has a nest of old clothes and such he likes to sleep in up in the attic, and he also has a snuggly warm cat bed which I bought for him what he sleeps in when he isn't up in the attic. He also has a scratching post now, which helps save our furniture (he kinda likes to bite and claw the couches). He's got a variety of toys , but his favorite are catnip mousies. They don't last very long though, 'cause he tends to claw the crap out of them then bite them open to get at the nip inside. He doesn't like the cat teaser all that much - I wiggle it up and down for him to chase and he's like 'what the hell you doing?' then usually winds up bumping my hand to get me to pet him instead.
I also have four great cats in New York - Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and Mister Skinless MS. They're more my uncles' cats than mine, but they all still love me. Right now, while my uncles are in Haiti helping folks after the big earthquake there, it's just me and the cats here. I've been sleeping out in the living room in uncle Hans's big recliner chair, and all the cats been sleeping on top of me. It's pretty comfortable sleeping with the kitties on me, and it keeps me from feeling lonely. The only bad part is waking up with a tail or paw in your face.
