Snake

1. What is your character's education level?
Snake has a degree in mechanical engineering and extensive military training.

2. Is s/he currently attending any sort of school?
No, he's not in school.

3. How much self-teaching does s/he do?
Snake will teach himself anything he can. He believes in learning everything because you never know when it might come in handy.

4. What sort of learning experiences has s/he undergone?
Snake has been through a lot of experiences. Everything from escaping from prison to delivering a baby.

5. How interested in formal education is your character? How interested is your character in educating him/herself?
Snake could careless about formal education though he does appreciate education. Snake home schools his children but he doesn't have faith in public education. As I've said Snake will take any chance he can to learn anything no matter how obscure.

6. Does your character make an effort to disguise their lack of education, or downplay how much education they have had? Why?
Snake always pretends he's less educated than he is. One of his survival techniques is to pretend that he's clueless.

7. Does your character have any learning disabilities? How do these affect him/her?
Snake doesn't have any now but he didn't read well or at all until he was 7 when his father returned from Vietnam.

8. Are there any ways in which your character is gifted? How does this affect him/her?
Snake has a photographic memory. It is both a blessing and a curse. Usually his photographic memory is good but when it comes to the worst of the things he's endured it is bad. It amplifies his PTSD.

9. How do you reflect your character's educational level in writing for him/her?
Snake doesn't usually reveal his education to others. He doesn't speak like an educated man but when it comes to making things work and building things he shines.


Peninnah
1. What is your character's education level?
Peninnah has never had formal education and she is illiterate.

2. Is s/he currently attending any sort of school?
Peninnah is not attending school but several characters are teaching her to read.

3. How much self-teaching does s/he do?
Peninnah learns as much as she can but it is usually others teaching her.

4. What sort of learning experiences has s/he undergone?
Peninnah hasn't had many interactive experience but she has observed centuries of life.

5. How interested in formal education is your character? How interested is your character in educating him/herself?
PEninnah teaches Sunday school which is about as formal as her education gets. She might take on a formal education if she could. Self education is all she's ever had available to her.

6. Does your character make an effort to disguise their lack of education, or downplay how much education they have had? Why?
Peninnah doesn't disguise anything about her education. She is very forthright about her lack of education and enthusiasm about trying to learn.

7. Does your character have any learning disabilities? How do these affect him/her?
Peninnah has a hard time speaking and actually her physical differences make learning difficult. She doesn't have any mental disabilities.

8. Are there any ways in which your character is gifted? How does this affect him/her?
Peninnah is telepathic so she could learn everything very easily however she prefers traditional learning methods.

9. How do you reflect your character's educational level in writing for him/her?
Peninnah doesn't often run into circumstances where her lack of education shows. Anything that requires reading though shows her lack very clearly. From being given a phone number to the news Peninnah is closed off.


Rosie
1. What is your character's education level?
Rosie has graduated high school and had some college.

2. Is s/he currently attending any sort of school?
Rosie is thinking about returning to college to finish her degree.

3. How much self-teaching does s/he do?
Rosie teaches herself when she has the opportunity and is interested. She learns as much as she can but not as much as she could.

4. What sort of learning experiences has s/he undergone?
Rosie has a lot of chances to learn about the music industry and culture. She's spent a lot of her life on her own. Being the daughter of a single mother she is a worldly woman.

5. How interested in formal education is your character? How interested is your character in educating him/herself?
Rosie isn't really interested in formal education. She doesn't believe it is necessary. She does educate herself, especially when it comes to cultures, food and languages.

6. Does your character make an effort to disguise their lack of education, or downplay how much education they have had? Why?
Rosie doesn't hide anything about herself.

7. Does your character have any learning disabilities? How do these affect him/her?
Rosie has no learning disabilities.

8. Are there any ways in which your character is gifted? How does this affect him/her?
Rosie is good at picking up languages though it isn't a gift particularly. Rosie is very social and so in order to interact with people she really tries to learn their language.

9. How do you reflect your character's educational level in writing for him/her?
Surprisingly the way Rosie speaks is not a sign of her lack of education. That is purely cultural for her. Her lack of book knowledge is very obvious and there is a lot she doesn't understand. That being said her worldly knowledge, particularly when it comes to music and culture, is pretty obvious and she often talks about the experiences she's had traveling.


Ian
1. What is your character's education level?
Ian has two masters degrees and two PhDs

2. Is s/he currently attending any sort of school?
Ian is a professor at the University of Texas and is honestly thinking of returning to school for another PhD.

3. How much self-teaching does s/he do?
Ian does do some self education but usually relies on formal education.

4. What sort of learning experiences has s/he undergone?
Ian has done a lot. He's been a bartender and played piano in a jazz club. He's been a teacher and likes to learn. He's worked as a consultant for a large corporation and done research. In addition, Ian knows a lot about medicine and more about dinosaurs than he'd like.

5. How interested in formal education is your character? How interested is your character in educating him/herself?
Ian is a promoter of formal education. He believes in educating yourself but he always believes that formal education is better.

6. Does your character make an effort to disguise their lack of education, or downplay how much education they have had? Why?
Ian does nothing to hide his education. He flaunts it because he has an ego the size of the United States. Ian believes he is always right.

7. Does your character have any learning disabilities? How do these affect him/her?
Ian doesn't have any learning disabilities unless you count his inability to believe he's ever wrong.

8. Are there any ways in which your character is gifted? How does this affect him/her?
Ian is a math genius. He's got an amazing talent for doing probability in his head. His natural talent for math has made his ego enormous. Ian is also a good instructor.

9. How do you reflect your character's educational level in writing for him/her?
Ian is arrogant about his knowledge and flaunts it. However if a student shows up that is struggling he will do everything he can to help them.
