Wednesday: Do I Have A Plan??

Not really, but I do have a floor plan. -giggles-

Well, my house apartment right now is basically a bedroom (Andrew's), a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room/my bedroom. Not so interesting. My house in DC's at least got more rooms, so here ya go!

Our house was kinda on the outskirts of DC - still in the city, still within walking distance from downtown (although a hike) an' definitely within Metro distance, but where it was more normal to have a small house with a tiny yard than an apartment. We had a little one-story house. Don't let the stairs fool you, there were about six of 'em and the "upstairs" was really about two an' a half feet higher than the "downstairs."

So you walk in and there's one huge room in front of you, that's the study, living room, an' the dining room. The dining room isn't so much as it is a table, and the study is just a desk an' a computer an' bookshelf. The living room is sectioned off by the big couch, so it's kinda like its own area. There are bookshelves in there too. When you're in the entranceway the kitchen is on your right. There's no door, just an opening, and you can see straight into the kitchen. My parents' bedroom is also downstairs, it's the one right off of the living room. They have more stuff in there than just a bed an' a couch, but the program I used to make the floorplan didn't really have much for furniture. Also, I'm super jealous of their closet space.

The upstairs is just a hallway, two general storage closets, a bathroom, my room, an' Nicky's room. My room is the one... hmm, how do we say this... closer to the street! Yeah. If you're looking at the picture, it's the one on the bottom. The one with the bed in the corner. Nicky's is the other one (obviously). The bathroom was weird, it had three doors - one for the hallway, with slidey doors, one that connected to my room, an' one that connected to Nicky's room. Made for a real crowded space, but if we ever wanted to sneak into each others' rooms without waking our parents up, we could. An' we did, quite a lot actually, before things got shitty.

There's no guest room, so whenever we had guests, they'd take one of our rooms - either mine or Nicky's, whoever was the cleanest, so it usually ended up being mine. In those cases I'd either hafta sleep on the couch downstairs or in Nicky's room. As you can guess, I hated having guests.

That little upstairs area with our rooms was my favorite part of the house, jus' 'cause it was so different. And unnecessary, but different. I liked the levels. It kinda sectioned off our private part of the house away from our parents without it being too out of the way. The upstairs was actually low enough to the ground that Nicky an' I could sneak out at night by crawling out our windows. We have big bushes in the backyard an' I hid a little stepladder behind them so that I could climb back up at the end of the night. That was super convenient. I can't believe my parents had no idea that I was sneaking out all this time. (Part of me thinks they do know, but they just never said anything.)

Oh, home. You are cool, but I wanna go back to you as little as possible.
