last night i watched zatoichi. a movie about a blind samurai...
it was possibly the most painful 2 hours of my life since battlefield earth came out.
good god.
i want my two hours back.
the horribly depressing thing is, i cant find a bad review of it online. WHY? because people are idiots and seem to think that if a movie is foreign it is good. the fact that this movie has fucking thousands of things randomly thrown into or left out of the storyline pointlessly (ie what is the point of the guy being gay? why is zatoichi not blind? why is the old guy the mafia head? why does the young guy pretend to be the mafia head for about 8 seconds? why is there tapdancing? what is the symbolism behind the scarecrows? why is there no background on zatoichi etcetcetc). good god i hate this movie.
they have somehow singlehandedly made samurai crap. i think i need to go watch the seven samurai about 9 times to get this out of my system. possibly some kenshin OVA...
but the real point is, never ever ever ever ever see zatoichi.
