June and Jim

Jan 24, 2012 21:49

I took time to go and visit neighbors June and Jim (next door) this morning. I wanted to tell them our news (finally) and see how things were with them.

I got VERY BAD news from them from the beginning. Jim looked terribly thin -- and as if he'd been socked hard in the mouth! His mouth was bloody and bruised!

It turns out he had a HEART ATTACK seven days ago!!!

He just got out of the hospital yesterday, as a matter of fact...

Anyway, many of my thoughts (and prayers, of course) today have been for both of them.

June said at one point they had a crowd of people surrounding him and working on him (reminds me of sister Sue) -- and a doctor turned to her and asked if Jim had discussed his 'arrangements' with her. She didn't know what he was getting at, but then he said, "I don't think he's going to make it." What an awful thing to say to her! And the timing really sucked...

Right after Marilyn and I moved into this house Jim ended up having his first heart attack. (Sorry, I don't recall exactly what year that was. I guess I should ask June...) So we've known for years that he could have another one. I'm just sorry that he did.

I'm not going to post about any other subjects right now. This is enough for this entry. If you could, I'd appreciate your good thoughts (and/or prayers) for these two friends. Thanks so much!

Life is short. We need to make the most of every day...
