I get my new cell phone tomorrow! Yipee! I can't wait. I went to a nearby Verizon store (over by sister Sue's house) to order it. The manager had no problem pulling up my plan (even though it's via work) and letting me know I was good to go.
No hard sell to buy the expensive phone, by the way. He asked what I needed and made a suggestion. I told him it was all about the actual calls -- and getting the best reception possible. I don't need a camera in my phone (I've got my digital that I carry everywhere I go, thanks) -- and I don't need any additional features. And as I told him, I don't control my plan, anyway -- that's done via work.
I'd expected some hassles, if you want to know the truth. I mean, they don't make money on phone sales -- they make money selling plans! But Don couldn't have been nicer! He promised to have my phone in tomorrow so I could drop by to get it.
Hurray! I can't wait.
And thankfully it's no big deal for him to port my phone book over. I'm delighted, as the last thing I want to do is enter all those numbers again! (I have literally tons. All my friends, for one thing. And then loads of business-related numbers, too.)
In fact, I no longer keep a phone book here at home. I pretty much rely on adding phone numbers to my phone. It's so handy! (And, no -- I've never lost my phone to date. I'm very careful with it.) I usually have my phone in the office if I'm home -- and on me if I'm out.
Oh. It's an LG, by the way...
Marilyn
mistressmarilyn and I updated to AVG 7.5 (the Professional version) recently. I installed it on both our computers yesterday. And I helped Sue install it on both her computer and Candy's computer today.
Sue also needed Ad-Adware SE and Spybot put on both computers (!!!). Which means that in the months since she had her computer 'fixed' -- and Candy got her new (rebuild?) computer -- they haven't been running any spyware maintenance on either computer.
Not. For. Months.
(sigh)
I ran Ad-Aware on Sue's computer. (It's always run Ad-Aware first, then Spybot second.) This software usually catches almost everything, by the way. But after running it and then running Spybot, we found 85 'bad things' on Sue's computer. 85! Usually you'll find between 1-5 things, max. Seriously. So all I have to say is that it's a good thing we finally ran the software today!
We're watching the Australian Open (tennis) right now. Nadal against Gonzalez. Rafa is down a set and a break (in the second). Damn it! He needs to get his act together right now...
I'm burning some music CDs. Our habit now is to never carry around the original of a CD. And I frankly don't give a damn if the music people like it or not! We've spent so much money buying the same CD over and over and over again, simply because they don't hold up to the wear and tear of being played! I mean, we handle them pretty carefully, so it's not about that...
Anyway, the music companies are getting lots of $$$ from Marilyn and me -- we buy tons of CDs a year. And we have stacks of them everywhere. In the house, in the car, at work. Yikes. We can't even keep track of all of them... But we both love music, so...
I see the liver specialist on Friday. Finally. I am so not looking forward to that appointment... (sigh)
Hector's (finally) coming tomorrow to take away our air conditioners (seeing as we don't need them now). He's also taking the old computer that we had attached to our home network. We didn't ever use it, and it was taking up a lot of space, so we're giving it to Sandy for one of the kids to use...
It's old, but works fine. And it has Word installed still, so her kid can use it for homework. She wants to set up a home network, too -- then he could also use it to go on line!
I'm glad to give these things to people who can use them. The air conditioners both work well and are new models with remote controls. Anyway, I'm also glad they'll be out of our way after tomorrow!
Time to go watch the tennis -- and snack on cheese and pickles... (grin)
