We're back home safely from our road trip (the Rosie Roadtrip!) to California. Many thanks must go to Marilyn for doing ALL the driving on our trip: Down to Richmond, to the hotel, to the actual Rally, into San Francisco, and HOME again, today. She rocks.
The four of us were an excellent TEAM! We've never traveled together before, and I think we were wonderful together.
It took guts for us to do this. It was outside our comfort zones, but we didn't let that stop us. We even became minor 'legends' -- known as the Portland people (or Portland girls). Cool, huh?
The trip home was easier than going down. We took Interstate 105 today, which is much faster (if far less lovely). We left at 8:00 a.m. this morning and dropped off Nancy at 8:00. Because of a local traffic issue, Marilyn and I didn't get home until around 9:30 -- and then Adeena still had to drive to Battle Ground. But we all made it, safe and sound.
We had breakfast at a McDonald's this morning. And then we ate lunch in Ashland, Oregon at a cute pizza place. Nice!
We stopped at Heaven On Earth in Azalea, Oregon. We just happened upon it. It advertises having the Best Cinnamon Rolls. Walking inside, the amazing smell of baked goods is overwhelming! And they immediately offer you FREE cookies! I had pumpkin bread pudding and everyone else had cinnamon rolls. Yummy!
I've been craving tomato juice for days and days! So I got a bottle of Clamoto Picante (the individual size) and drank that. Wonderful! Later I got a spicy V-8, which was good (but not as good as the Clamoto).
I had pretty terrible leg and foot cramps last night and had trouble sleeping. I took my leg cramp pills, but they didn't help much. And I even soaked in a hot tub. So I was tired today. Part of the time I road in the back seat with my dear Adeena (holding hands -- something we both love to do).
I also read a little bit to Marilyn, but when my voice got bad she had me stop.
I can't wait to share photos (hopefully tomorrow). I'm anxious to head to bed, as I'm beat.
Photos of us made some news sources. We were way down near the front, so I'm not terribly surprised. Pretty cool!
I'm proud of the four of us. Plus I'm grateful to sister Sue for caring for the cats and our house.
Bed should be pretty nice tonight!!!
