Movie Day at Work

Jul 24, 2015 23:48

As I mentioned in my blog entry for yesterday, Marilyn and I didn't get to bed until quite LATE. I was still wide awake after 4:00 a.m. And we had to be up by 7:00, so we didn't get much sleep. Plus even though we'd planned to nap during the day, we never did end up doing that. Things just kept getting in the way in the afternoon, evening and night.

Anyway, though neither Marilyn nor I felt good, there was no way we weren't going to work. Not necessarily because of Movie Day, but very much because our WATER was going to be turned off at 8:30 a.m. for SIX HOURS (!!!).

We got to work just as Carol pulled up, with Jeff in her car. Both Carol and Jeff live in Vancouver, Washington, so I guess they worked it out for him to ride with her (as he's unable to drive because of his injury and surgery).

I spent ages talking to Jeff about his poor wrist (and things with his daughter). He's terribly swollen, so they've been unable to put him in a permanent cast. He's in a splint that's wrapped. It looks pretty awkward and Jeff finds it painful. It puts a lot of pressure on his shoulder, too. I just think he needs to go easy on himself and if he's going to come in to work, then he should work part days (only a few hours). He had a head injury and combined with pain medication use, he's still pretty confused, anyway. So...

Marilyn and I went over and got Starbucks. I had their new COLD BREW coffee, which I found delicious, by the way. If you have the chance, give it a try.

Noon-ish we all walked to the show downtown for Movie Day (the festival paid for all of us to get in), to see "Ant-man." It started rather slow (I turned to Marilyn and asked her if she was bored!), but soon after picked up and was really very entertaining! We all agreed we liked it.

After much of the Staff went out for a drink together, but Marilyn and I just wanted to get back to the office and head home. Rich left right away, too (Fridays are days off for him this time of year). And I guess Marissa didn't go out with them, either.

Driving home I started to feel pretty bad (stomach cramps and gas again), and we barely made it home before I needed to 'go.' I could easily have had an accident in the car. I was sure glad we didn't try going out with everyone, considering!

That's been a part of this bug: Some gastrointestinal stuff. I think that's why I'm just NOT HUNGRY much of the time. Food and beverages just all seem to cause discomfort for me. And clearly I'm not quite over that, yet.

Anyway, when we got home the water was BACK ON (woo hoo), which I was thankful for.

We went down to the family room and turned on the TV. I was soon falling asleep, so I headed to bed and slept for several hours.

Tonight we went to Freddies to pick up a few things. That turned into quite a shopping trip, actually. Hahaha. We got some fruit (I've been craving it), cat food for the kitties, iron pills for me (I was out of iron -- and hate taking the liquid, by the way!), pop (we were out) and several other items.

We're home and we've been watching "Mysteries at the Museum" (which we both enjoy). Now Marilyn is playing Zuma while I blog. We have some "The Middle" episodes taped we can watch, plus "Jeopardy" episodes, too.

We had leftovers for dinner.

We're planning to go into the office and get some work done tomorrow. And we MUST go get manicures and pedicures this weekend (considering we should have gotten it done LAST weekend).

The weather was still hot today, but it's supposed to cool down this weekend. We're both actually glad, to tell you the truth. It's been so hot for ages now.

I guess that's pretty much it for Friday. I'm probably forgetting something, but oh well. Yes, I still have lingering laryngitis, but I do think I'm getting better. I really am tired of being sick. Rest helps a lot, that's for sure!
