Marilyn and I had a very relaxing and lazy summer day. We slept in, then we played a bunch of Zuma (which we've been playing for years now). We ate leftover hot dogs (no buns -- we're still avoiding bread) with leftover chili.
And in the afternoon we took a ride to Sauvie Island to get corn on the cob (it was yummy!). I had tried to phone sister Sue at one point, but I didn't reach her. We never talked, so I don't know what she was up to today. She spent yesterday with her friend Tammy.
We also went and bought our Sauvie Island parking pass, then we drove down to the nude beach and walked in part way for a few minutes. Today (July 14) is
National Nude Day (which we'd both seen online), so we thought it was a good day to drop by the beach...
We walked in far enough to remove our tops and take a couple of photos (with arms covering the exposed parts). I got a great shot of Marilyn's back, exposing her two tattoos -- but really nothing else.
Don't get me wrong. Marilyn and I love nude sunbathing. We've done it for a number of years, though not really at all recently. We have no hangups about nudity and seeing naked bodies -- or being nude around others. It certainly feels more comfortable when you're in better shape -- no doubt about it. But I've been doing it as an overweight person for ages, so whatever.
My intention is never to offend. We go to beaches that are clearly marked Clothing Optional, warning visitors what they'll see. Generally the atmosphere is quite friendly and even family-oriented, with people of all ages in various stages of undress.
There are almost always lookyloos, though -- meaning people who are just there to see naked people, even though they are, themselves, dressed. We had a friend who used to want to go WITH US -- but was unwilling to undress. So we refused to take him with us. He only wanted to see us naked, but wasn't willing to participate. So...
I find it amusing how many people will deliberately go there to see naked people. I've always said there must be better ways to view nudity than to run by on a boat or stand around in groups staring, considering much of what you'll see will be older fat women (like ME) -- which I'm sure is far from exciting (or ideal). I don't think I'm 'fantasy fodder' for anyone (hahahahahahaha), but I guess that's in the eyes of the beholder. What do I know? Maybe anyone naked is exciting for some, no matter how oddly shaped the body might be.
Anyway, it's generally a pleasant and relaxing experience -- not at all sleazy or negative. I can't recall a time anyone made me feel awkward about being undressed in front of them (with the exception of a few lookyloos -- who are really easily ignored and in the minority). There are some fit and attractive people, of course -- but most people are just 'average.'
By the way, it doesn't take long before you just don't think about the nudity all that much -- except for how nice the sunshine and breeze feels on your uncovered skin...
But today wasn't a real visit to the beach, because we only stayed long enough to take the photos. We didn't really even glance around...
By the way, it seemed quite hot. I guess it was in the mid-80s. Just heading toward too hot, but not quite there.
Well, I'm reading a new book, but I can't recall the title right now -- so I'll share later. And we've been watching some movies we like (such as "The Island" with Ewan McGregor -- which we both love). Sorry not to share a full list, but I'm off to mess with Instagram now... (smile)
As you can tell, we didn't go down to the beach house this weekend. Marilyn was too tired to want to drive there. So we stayed home, instead. No complaints, considering we have air conditioning here. (grin)
