When she started receiving a dozen red roses on the hour, every hour, Rei rolled her eyes.
When, in a meeting with the Senshi and Shitennou, a man burst in announcing he had a singing telegram for a Miss Rei Hino and started blaring out 'Lady in Red', she called security to have him removed, and then walked over to where Jared was sitting and smacked his head. He had a goofy smile on him for the rest of the meeting. Everyone else thought he was nuts.
When she came back from lunch and found box with an exquisite jade comb in it, she massaged her temples and thought, 'that man and his ego!'
When she got to her room, tired from a day's work, and found a gorgeous dress, a note saying 'I'm picking you up at 8' and some daring negligee on the bed, she sighed in exasperation and went to draw a bath.
When he arrived, looking like an angel on earth with a bouquet of white Casablanca lilies in his arms and that cocky smile on his face, she deliberately ignored him and got into the car. He didn't even bat an eyelid.
When he took her to a secluded restaurant with a view of the ocean, reserved only for the two of them, she acted as if it was nothing out of the ordinary.
When they finally fell into bed at around midnight, surrounded by rose petals and scented candles, and he whispered sweet nothings in her ear, she smiled, pressed close to him. Because he wasn’t afraid of her, he didn’t run away when she challenged him; because, even though she’d never admit it, he knew that Rei Hino really did love cliché.
