Ok, it's kind of late, but better late than never, yes? This is one of two (heavily edited!) fics I submitted for the awesome, amazing, brilliant 2012 ficathon. Not only that Kunzite sacrifices himself for his brothers, feeling that it is his due to the right the wrongs they all committed (trust him to take all the blame), but also that in just that one second where he has hope that an eternity with Venus by his side mightn't be so bleak after all, she changes.
It's so interesting that as death, in death, tasked by and with death, he remains more human than she does, but I think that is because she turns from Minako to Venus once the chains surrounds her. Minako, I believe (and yours in particular) is always more human, kinder, and more accessible than Venus ever was and it is something that Kunzite has to learn the hard way once more.
The only thing that might have given this away as yours during ficathon is the end of the SilMil narrative, but other than that, I think I would have had a very hard time pinpointing this as yours, especially because you sly, clever thing changed the Silmil names! No Nafretiri this time around, you trickster girl!
(Also, how TERRIFYING and BRILLIANT was Rei's desperate bid to save her sisters? The sacrifice! The pain! The determination!)
