Remembering the thirty year old cigarettes.

I've owned this house since 1984... almost exactly 30 years.

And the large bedroom, where I now sleep (usually*) has Fiberglas curtains, which never need cleaning... well, sort of never.

Thirty years ago Frances lived in this room, and she was a smoker.  When I moved in the hall walls had brown deposits near the top, and the moisture from the shower caused a sort of lava flow of tar...  I wiped it off as best I could.

But the curtains stayed.  Now that I'm back in the room, I notice things... and the brownish hue of the lacework was visible with my new, brighter LED fixtures.

So thanks to Woolite, and lots of water, the curtains are still 30 years old, but considerably cleaner... and lots of brown water is down the drain.

*It is, by the way, good to have a guest room with a nice Temperpedic bed... for those nights when my back says "I need something different".  Those curtains were cleaned about 3 years ago... I'm getting to things... I'm getting to things.
