Today is the last day of my vacation. Something that always creates a certain amount of angst, doesn't it? ::sigh::
I can't stop listening to The Temper Trap, they're awesome. Check out
Sweet Disposition, it's great. I'm finding all sorts of good, new music thanks to the fabulous
Spotify.com, a streaming music site that is quite innovative. I have, thanks to an invite (I have no invites to give out myself, unfortunately) a free, unlimited version. The only thing is that there's a very short ad every 20 mins or so, otherwise I can stream millions and millions of songs for free. It's really good. I can really recommend checking it out, there's a limited free version available for download.
And about BBC's Sherlock: I thought it was pretty good, even though I'm not quite as taken with it as everyone else seems to be, but I enjoyed it very much. There was just a certain distance to the characters, they seemed impenetrable and cold somehow. This Sherlock Holmes was certainly very intriguing, but if possible even more unlikeable because of his sociopathic tendencies than for instance RDJ's incarnation. RDJ's Holmes had demons he was fighting and seemed to harbour pretty strong feelings, while very little seemed to affect Sherlock's analytical brain. I'd love to see him crack. And so I hope it'll continue soon, so we can see more of that. And of the love affair between Sherlock & John, of course. No matter what they've said about it, I refuse to believe there's nothing going on there, and not just in fic.
But fic do make things infinitely better because both
candle-beck and
Viggorlijah have written Sherlock BBC stories within the last 24 hours! YAY! That's how you make a fandom work for me. :D
Furthermore, I read a SPN Big Bang (I've read several, but this is the latest, I can only remember so far back...) that I thought was very good,
A Life Most Ordinary by
sonofabiscuit77. I love it when Sam & Dean's tragic lives are put into more realistic circumstances, of hard work and tears. The real life troubles of being brothers in love are handled beautifully here, I think.
