So, what is one supposed to think about
this then? Stephen "Doctor Who" Moffat is doing a tv series about Sherlock Holmes. With Martin Freeman (from The Office) as Watson, it seems they're going back to the bumbling, slow version of the man. I don't know the guy playing Holmes, though. But I do know Rupert Graves and I've always loved him (ever since I saw A Room With a View eight times in a row - I so loved his beautifully floppy hair - and then saw him take a roll in the hay with Maurice). Anyway, it's set in the present, which is good, because that'll make it very different from the new movie. And since you know how much I love the movie, this is a very good thing. Because right now, I can't imagine anyone else as Holmes & Watson than RDJ and Jude Law. I just can't!
Speaking of Holmes, I try to read Holmes fan fiction, but I'm STILL having trouble finding pieces that really appeal to me. I'm not sure why. But yesterday I read
Shadows who had shadows, which is a different sort of AU, very intriguing and well-written, I thought. Well worth a read, I think.
I don't suppose it's strange that one becomes more and more picky after more than ten years in fandom, is it? I find I'm disappointed by several of the Big Bangs, for instance. They start off so well, but then I lose interest somewhere in the middle. Usually when the two guys get together. It always happens too soon! I want more pining in my stories. I want more internal struggles! I want less porn! Porn is very boring to me. (While, as I've mentioned elsewhere, Pining Porn is music to my ears.)
I watched the first episode of Huge and it seems sort of entertaining (if a little childish). It'll be interesting to see where they're going with this issue. I'm one of those people who firmly believe health is very important, physical as well as mental. Our bodies need some level of exercise (if you're able to, of course) and the right kind of food to function properly. We're like a machine, where all the pieces are dependant of each other, the fuel we put in, will not only affect the body, but also the brain. It's all connected. This show is such a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' sort of thing. Where will it end? It seems it'll be with some important 'message' (and I HATE those). I don't know, I foresee trouble in this show's future, for me.
