Fandom existentialism

Does anybody but me feel like the whole SPN/J2 fandom is getting more and more surreal, the way it's so meta and self-referential? To some extent, fandom has a part in creating canon (both fictional and real), by being so involved in the show and its actors. Not to mention the way some fans get very tangled up with people close to their fannish objects. And every little thing becomes huge in the enclosed space of fandom, while the rest of the world mostly couldn't care less.

Speaking of, I do love these two photos from Jared's wedding, even if it's a little weird how it's the 'bodyguard' providing all this info. Isn't it? Some have reposted the pics in a smaller version, but here are big ones!

I'm still very enamoured with the Sherlock Holmes fandom too. I want to read more! Most of all, though, I want to read more from candle-beck, because goddamn is she amazing! There's a feverishly angsty and brilliant quality to her stories - particularly when it comes to Holmes/Watson. Is there anyone quite as good in this fandom as her? I haven't had time to go look much, so I'm still awfully lost. Who does good recs? Any tips? I'm really hoping for those sequels on the movie, so the fandom will live on. And prosper, hopefully!
