Wherein I cringe.

I don't cringe easily, but lord, all these questions to JC about his sexual persuasion and whatnot is making me CRINGE. Jeez.

It makes me think about gossip in general. You know I love my fair share of gossip; even when I hate it I can't stay away from it. But the thing is, one thing the internet has done is make it so much easier to start rumours, to claim facts, to make gossip, since you can do it completely anonymously. In a magazine, they have to stand by their words to a certain extent. An anonymous blogger doesn't have to and can, if they feel like it, say anything they want. It's impossible to refute and it spreads like wildfire.

Moreover, claiming people are gay seems to be used, by both gay gossipers and non-gay dito, as a way to ridicule, most of the time. For different reasons, but still, it's a matter of making them look silly - either for being gay at all or for pretending to be straight. It's really very annoying at times. All sane people wish that no one felt the need to pretend to be anything but what they are, but they do and so it all gets very bizarre. It's a game of epic proportions and no one knows what's PR and what's the truth and what are just pure lies. Confusing, to say the least.

And no matter what may be the truth about JC (I still have my doubts he speaks the complete truth) I've always loved the way he (claims) to always be prepared to answer any question. Of course, he's very good at answering without saying anything at all so it doesn't lead anywhere. (He could be a politician if he wasn't so nice.) It would be a really, really good thing for JC if he could just be slightly more aggressive, he often comes off as very bland. Nice, but completely unthreatening or challenging. It doesn't make a great career, being bland. I wish nice was a better career enhancer, though.

Furthermore, at this point, his career is NOT a career. He claims he's obsessed with music, and still it's been FOUR YEARS since his last album came out. He should just say the hell with everything else, start his own label, release his album and work his way up. But maybe he's to fond of the glamour of the celebrity life? Hoping for a bit of Justin's stardom to rub off on him? I think we're all tired of the being-seen-but-doing-nothing career he's had since 2004. I know I am, at least. It's just not very interesting. MUSIC would be interesting.

He'll have to live with the gay rumours, though. No one will believe his protesting until he gets married and has kids. Or until he releases his next album and becomes a superstar...

Talking about cringeworthy, here's JC on Tyra Banks:
