We've been forecasted to have snow a lot of times this year, and not once has it actually happened. This time, it was supposed to be like the blizzard of 2006 round 3. So yesterday at work, we get an email saying they will make a decision about whether to close the office by 6:30AM today. Based on the weather pattern of late I was skeptical, but the clouds over the mountains led me to believe something was actually coming.
This morning, I wake up to a ridiculous snowfall and no email at 7:30, 7:45, 8:15, or 8:45. All the while the snow is getting spectacularly worse, but I'm expected at work and the roads don't look that bad yet.
2 hours later I have driven almost all the way to work over washboards of packed snow and ice up and down hills in nearly white out conditions. No serious problems, but some god awful traffic that makes driving a 1/2 mile up and over a hill take a lovely stop and go driving a manual 45-minutes. I then call Kostas because this is getting ridiculous, it's 11AM and I'll probably get to work by about 12 or 12:30 where I would likely find out we're being sent home. He checks my work email and finds an email sent at 8:02AM!!!!!!!! stating that they have decided to close the office for the day. So I turn my pissed-off little ass around and drive an hour back home in complete steriotypical Colorado white-out conditions. I get home at noon knowing I never even had to get dressed.
On the more amusing side.....
I also get home to find that the wind has blown the snow around quite a bit making a little circle perfect for Patrick to pee/poop in. It has also blown all of the snow that used to be there in front of my back door. 3 wind gusts, a snow shovel, and an inch of snow inside my house later Patrick has a path outside. He uses it then jumps in all of the big piles of snow instead. He also manages to find the ground under a 3 foot pile of snow and makes a big giant dirt mess all over everything. Silly puppy.
We'll theoretically find out by tomorrow morning if the office is closed or not again. I might get that email when I'm halfway to work tomorrow morning. Fucking Outlook.
