NEVER buy a Chevy HHR.

So thursday marked the 3rd mid-January in a row that I have managed to mangle my car in some fashion.

1) January 17th, 2007 - I got rear ended by an asshole with no insurance. Worst experience ever.
2) January 18th, 2008 - After having gotten my entire rear bumper replaced a year before, I backed up into a trailer hitch and cracked the hell out of the new one.
3) And now, January 15th, 2009.........

Driving home during rush hour, speed of traffic = 45mph. I get distracted/look down/whatever for a second. When I look back up, speed of traffic = 0mph. I slam on my brakes, they apparently lock (thank you no ABS FTW FTeffingL) and I helplessly slam into the back of a Toyota Sienna Van. The guy I hit was surprisingly calm about it and had what appeared to be significantly less damage than me. He didn't want to call the cops, but after my last experience, I determined it to be absolutely necessary. So we waited around they get there, we exchange information and I get a court date (4pt ticket: failure to not interfere with the vehicle in front of you). My car is still driveable, but barely. The front end is pretty well crushed into itself, apparently it didn't affect the engine and the quarter panels look okay, but we don't know about frame damage. So it still may or may not be totaled. Awesome. I'm fine, the other guy is fine, which is the most important part; but damn I feel like an asshole. *sigh*

Now, I'm driving a Chevy HHR which feels like driving in tunnel vision with the worst and largest blind spots pretty much ever.....and I'm stuck with it until either I get my car back, or I have to find a new one.

At least I had a good review at work. I do an excellent job and am well liked, I can just be a little distracted by the web (srsly, who isn't). Mostly though I over all meet/exceed expectations. ooks like I might actually have a career path for once.
