The IT guy has just left and my computer is once more functional. That was a waste of a morning. I would love nothing more than to get these 'spyware' programmers alone for just 5 minutes. I have never seen anything like the blitz that infested me this morning. And how did it happen? I am pretty sure it was a link in an email from "electionprotection", a group that is trying to organize voting monitoring this election. I approve of this and have been trying to get involved, but the link to training session times put me in pop-up hell and totally infested my computer. Ny cynical paranoia tells me that people vehemently against fair, accountable elections hacked and sabotaged the site. At least, I wish I could believe I am being cynical and paranoid.
