Just stuff...

I'm trying to journal more regularly.

.
Lots going on in my world! We're getting so much done in the house. I bitch a lot about my mom driving me crazy, but she has been more help to me in this than I ever could have imagined. Furniture rearranged, boxes unpacked, pictures hung (hanged? LOL), stuff organized - you name it. I get more done when she's here than when she's not and when she's here and I'm not, she just goes to town with it. Today's project is taking pictures of stuff to list on eBay. Clothes, shoes, bric-a-brac - things too nice to just donate. Speaking of donate, Gran had several wigs (she had very thin hair all her life but it was black as a raven's wing with just a few strands of grey at 89) and hairpieces. They were all quite expensive and made of human hair. ~shudder~ I donated them to Circle of Hope, a local foundation that provides support to cancer patients and got the sweetest card back from them. I was hoping for a tax receipt, but the card was nice.

John starts what will hopefully be his LAST semester in a couple of weeks. He will find out this coming week if he got credit for Psych 101 & Econ 101 in the big NZ credit transfer. If he gets credit, he will graduate in December. If not, he'll have to take them in the spring & graduate in May. He's taking 15 hours this fall; 12 Philosophy & 3 Anthropology. Only a metric ton of reading, I imagine. He got unemployment after his layoff and will draw more per week than he was bringing home, so no job until after the semester ends. It's been truly bizarre having him home so much when I'm used to not seeing him at all. It's been mostly good but there are times...

When I get up in the morning - I am subhuman without coffee - I don't want to be nattered at, talked to or be exposed to loud or upbeat music or TV. Especially on Sunday. So this morning, I slept in like a big fat bedslug, until about 9. Quel decadence! I got up, made coffee, then went to the living room to read the paper. This is my ritual: I go to the Church of Coffee & The Paper every Sunday. John's watching some Olympic thing which I tuned out after he turned it down - no problem. Then he starts talking. A lot. To me. grmpf.

We went to Heber Springs to see Kat & my dad & stepmom last weekend. Had a great time and got to watch Daddy go all gaga over his new puppy. His name is Riley but Daddy calls him Boudreaux. He's a Silky and just as sweet and pretty as he can be. Daddy didn't get him, Liz did and Daddy bitched for almost 4 days before he fell in love. I have pictures and will post them soon. Kat is in Eureka Springs with her new boyfriend this weekend. She hasn't introduced him to the fam yet. He's about her age and is employed. So far, so good. No weddings tho. She's on her own for that.

OH! I got a couple of decants of HAEE's Voodoo Punani from tempestteapot. OMG it's true. That is the best smelling stuff I'm encountered in ages. I like it, the boy likes it, even my mother likes it. It's at the top of my ongoing want list. For ages, when someone asked what I want to Christmas or my birthday, I couldn't think of a thing. Now I can print out a list. heh

I need more coffee, food and to start taking EvilBay pix. In that order.

the fam, kat, haee, just stuff
