Because I can't remember the last time I wrote a decent blog entry here.
First things first.
I'm back from a much-needed break over the weekend. By break, I mean sun, sand and sea, and it helped that I was with some of my best girls and the boys.
Now, I'm four shades darker and redder, peeling like anything, but happy as a sand crab.
I think I want to reward myself with small "vacations" every so often.
Although, I must admit, coming home to my MacBook after this trip was pretty sweet.

On a totally unrelated note, I can't believe that this season's American Idol is coming to a close in a matter of weeks.
I also can't believe that this is my first time to mention the show in a blog entry this year.
It's not that I haven't been interested/been following the show. I have been and so far, my predictions have pretty much turned out right.
I guess I'm just not as excited about this season as I was last year. Come on; we're talking about David Cook here.
Needless to say, I can't say I'm surprised when it comes to who've made it to this year's Final Four.
Picture nicked from Google Images. I just blurred the other contestants.
In the beginning, I thought that the season would end with Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert (or "Glambert", as some would have it) battling it out in the finale. But as the weeks progressed, I started to notice Allison Iraheta's maturity and insane talent and gravitated towards her.
Now, we have Danny, Adam, Allison and Kris left in the competition. Danny the balladeer whose emotional connection to his songs makes you want to cry. Adam who gives his own spin to the songs he chooses and renders jaw dropping solid performances week after week. Allison who just turned 17 and can sing a million octaves and belt like she's been performing her whole life. Then there's Kris, the heartthrob, the contemporary one whose vocals are simply soothing.
Who do you think will battle it out in the finale?

Yesterday was abuzz with the
brouhaha related to the Philippine Customs wanting to impose a tariff on books imported to this country or even a total ban on importing books altogether.
I'll understand if they impose a 1% tax on these books. Call it "for the country's benefit", call it corrupt, call it the way you see it.
But to ban foreign books from entering this country? Are they nuts?
According to various websites, imported books haven't entered this country in the last 2 months. The likes of Fully Booked haven't been selling new titles, in fact.
If this -- madness -- continues to persist, I will go nuts myself.
I sincerely hope that they rethink their plans when it comes to this. Sure, this country may be in debt and imposing a tariff on imported goods may be a way to raise funds. Whatever.
But the bigger story here could be illiteracy, which would inevitably lead to unemployment.
Way to continue the cycle of poverty, really!

And because it's been a way for me to stalk celebrities and find out how people in general are doing on a minutely (as opposed to "daily") basis, I'm on
Twitter as well now.
It's pretty addicting, I must say. On my list are Hugh Jackman, Matthew Perry, Ellen de Generes, Ryan Seacrest, Jason Mraz and John Mayer. I know where Hugh Jackman is at this moment, or what Ryan Seacrest thinks about the Idols' performances after their dry runs.
This makes me feel 5% cooler!
Haven't bothered adding the likes of Jessica Simpson (assuming she's even on Twitter), though. That would just nullify my 5% increase on the coolness scale.
