Terrible Timing

Let's start off with a little tale... You see, last year in September, I went to the dentist and had two badly decayed teeth cleaned and filled. He warned me that they might require a root canal, and to let him know if they start bothering me again. So, I went on my merry way, with no issues.

Now, go back to last friday night. Guess what happened? I went from being perfectly fine to expeirencing sharp, mind-numbing pain. But it was a broad pain, going all along the right side of my jaw, and leaving me with a headache and sore muscles in my face/neck/shoulders. I wasn't entirely sure if it was because of those teeth, not that the dentist I've been going to is open on weekends, anyway.

So, the weekend continued and, although I've experienced sporadic bouts of pain, they seemed to come less frequently. I decided to see how I felt today.

... And I felt fine for the most part. That is, until about an hour ago when I tried eating my dinner. .... I can now say with confidence that at least one of the compromised teeth is to blame. Very painful confidence...

Of all the terrible times to act up. Right before the holidays, before my insurance has had a chance to reset for the year, and I've got a flight scheduled for next week on Thursday, too.

Honestly, I'm not sure what to do. I mean, with the dental work I've had so far this year, my insurance isn't likely to cover much at this point. That would mean the brunt of it would be on me and my family.

On top of that, with my flight coming up soon, would there even be time to take care of it before I leave?? If I could get this dealt with before my flight, I should feel better for the holiday season, but will have to bare the brunt of the payment. I don't even know the ballpark estimate for what that would cost... If I can't get anything done in time for me to make my flight, I suppose I would just have to endure. Maybe I could get something to help deal with the pain when it flares up...

Either way, I suppose I won't know unless I talk to my dentist. I have a quiz tomorrow in my math class, which I'll probably go take, since it's our last quiz, but I think I may just leave school early and see about calling my dentist. Until then, I guess I'll be stuck living off ibuprofen and hoping the pain disappears, if only for a little while.
