(no subject)
I learned to eat fire yesterday, at a workshop that circus member Dan put on for us. So freakin' fun! The coolest thing I can do so far is the tongue transfer, but I was too light-headed to try fire breathing. Also some of the repercussions of doing said fire breathing were really dangerous, and my asthma lungs have probably taken a beating already. Steph tried it though, and did really well :D Every time I burp I taste fuel haha.
This weekend has been just what I needed to relax after last week. Most of the problems stemmed from the fact that I work with a lot of boys and they tend to not respect women. When they're in a good mood they are sweet kids, but when they need some correction with their behavior they do not want to listen to me. Very frustrating. One boy has started trying harder than the others and I have some hope that he won't remain sexist forever. A couple of the others seem to have gotten worse. Sometimes I hate my job.
However, Friday went really well and with the promise of a shrinking classroom I am looking forward to next week. It will be really nice to not be running around everywhere just to watch kids clean chalkboards or something. What is sad is that the ones who need the most supervision are often the most rude. Anyway, it will get better soon.
There's a cd release party for our friend's band today, The F-holes. We've never heard them play but have wanted to for MONTHS so hopefully we'll hear something today. I've been thinking about moving and realize more and more that I will miss Flag and everything here. I lived here for 5 years, the longest I've lived somewhere other than the Tucson area. I'm excited for Portland but will probably have attachments to Flag for awhile.
