Romen women/men

When will it end? Seriously. Damn, bloody, silly, crappy, doodle essay!
It is quite possibly, driving me mad!

The question is this: What might an upper-class man in the Republican period have a) hoped for and b) feared when he got married?

Bloody men and expectations and crap but to be fair it's not that bad, it's just writing it and being assed with it! Plus it doesn't help that it's due for tomorrow and I have to go to Queens for a feckin tutorial today. *angry face* Grrrr! I am going to possibly kill Chris plus he didn't even email me back when I ranted at him about things :( He will get the Roman Republic book threw at him and I will be starting another bloody social war.

*breathes* Anymahoodles! I get to see Adryen today for like a whole 15 minutes which is yay! But is kinda nay, ya? It's cos I'm in from 12 to 1 then walking down going to meet him walk down and get my transport home to come home get food and do the essay again.

Well so far I have over 500 words which isn't too bad. I know the points I want to cover anyhow (hope: wife is fertile so he has an heir and the family name is carried on throughout generations (restrictions on marriage e.g. no mixed classes, girl must have reached a child baring age), hope it is a "manus" marriage so she will receive inheritance and dowry from her pater familias (father, so talk about kyrios - guardianship and how it is passed to the husband - potestas), that he marries into a family which benefits him politically e.g. Cicero. Fears: Infertility - a good ground for divorce, quite simply no manus marriage means no inheritance! If he makes a wrong move, that will weaken his political standing/power.

I have an hour and a half to get about 500 more words done so I best get started :)

getting to see adryen:d!, ancient history, mind boggled, latin, essay
