Geebus Cripes on a Christmas Cracker, the things you learn when you read wikipedia late at night.
Things I'm guessing the movie Evita never showed---
In 1971, Evita's body was exhumed and flown to Spain, where Juan Perón maintained the corpse in his home. Juan and his third wife, Isabel, decided to keep the corpse on their dining room table. Isabel would comb Evita's hair every day, and, under pressure from Juan, lay down next to her dead body to absorb her charisma
And then when Juan died---
In 1987, his tomb was desecrated, and his hands and some personal effects, including his sword, were stolen.[65] Perón's hands were cut off with a chainsaw. A ransom letter asking for US$8 million was sent to some Peronist members of Congress. No suspect has ever been charged, and the hands have never been recovered. Many of those involved in the investigation of the disappearance of Perón's hands (including Judge Far Suau) have since died, some under circumstances considered questionable. There is evidence that the theft had some sort of official support, as the robbers used a key to enter the tomb.
WTF Argentina. I am so never visiting you.
