A better day

Went to the doctor this morning. He said my back and neck were all tense. Go figure.

We actually talked to Claire today (she had emailed us last night, and then messaged on AIM). She seems to have learned something from the tragedy about how short life is, and about how silly some things you can consider important are. I'm glad for that.

She said that she'd talk to us again- don't know if she will or not, really- but I think it's a step in the positive direction that she's not blaming people for things and she's trying to work them out. So hey. There's hope for a lot of things.

I've been trying to put the tragedy in perspective. It's terrible, but life goes on- we're stronger as a nation than one terrorist attack. We will survive. And I think, in some ways, the only good thing to come out of something so terrible is that maybe we will unite against a common enemy and stop tearing down our fellow Americans so much.

United States. It means something.

Freedom is something I've always taken for granted, along with security.

But now I know each is a precious treasure, and I hope we have all learned that lesson. Life goes on.. survival is good.. help where you can.. and try to make sure nothing this hideous ever happens again, while knowing all the time that somewhere, some way, it will.

That's the inveitable price of being human. Sometimes we hurt each other in big ways. Sometimes in little ways.

I don't know what it all means.. but hey. Today was a better day for me,because today, there was hope.

news, friends, politics, blah
