Rilo Kiley Concert report

Sep 26, 2007 01:16

To the bitch behind us in line who came up and well, bitched, about us being ahead of her... a hearty eff you. Though I doubt she's an online person, just some random sixteenish kid who thought she should be first in the door omfg. Not that all younger fans are bad- we have some great kids here on the boards. But I must be getting old because some of those young people seem so RUDE. There was also a girl who came up to us and asked what time Rilo Kiley would likely be on, because 'I'm just here to see her and not the openers.' First, openers are good for you. Second, Rilo Kiley is NOT a her.

There were entirely too many kids dressed up like mini-Jennies. It was kind of scary. The Monster people gave out drinks before the show... energy drinks are so nasty. My mouth still tastes kind of like monster. Blah. I was going to hand out some of the three tons of RK and Elected stickers I still have from the MA Era, but security wouldn't let me claiming that people would be irresponsible with them and stick them to things inside. 'Cause you know... yeah. They also made everyone line up boy-girl, so we could be wanded and searched before going in.

Art in Manilla I wanted to like more than I did. It was just really kind of generic and blended together. I suspect I would like their songs better non-live.

Aus and I LOVED Grand Ole Party. Anyone else think that Kristen sounds like Janis Joplin? Amazing vocals. We spoke to her a little after the show and bought the album, which she signed - and her speaking voice is actually quiet. Who would have thought?

Rilo Kiley was amazing- their showmanship and performance are better than ever. They had the perfect blend of old favorites and new hits. I have a poor memory for such things, but I know they played Paint's Peeling and Spectacular Views and WIres and Waves, With Arms Outstretched from the really older set - t's A Hit, I Never, A Man/Me/Then Jim, Portions for Foxes, Ripchord, Does He Love You from MA, and 15, Silver Liniing, Breaking Up, Dreamworld, Moneymaker, Give A Little Love from the new stuff and from Jenny's solo album Rise Up With Fists, and from The Elected Greetings in Braille. Amazing show.

Afterwards we got some pictures with Jason, Pierre, and Blake. I think they're probably the only pictures we have that turned out, because even though I had a photo pass (which says 'Rilo Kiley' and has Faye Runaway's picture on it, haha) I couldn't get anywhere near enough to the stage to photograph. So we sat in the balcony. Nick was right up front though, so he should have some good shots. He also got a personal hello from Blake during the concert. :)

All in all , a wonderful night.
