The infrequent L update

Well, yeah, its been a while. Life is like that sometimes.

Jeanette just had one of her papers marked as a 74- but when we checked the paper over, six problems that had been marked as wrong were right. They had been graded by a little bitch-goddess child who decided to mark them wrong to be spiteful (anyone who's been to school remembers the stupid, snobby, stuck up bitch child type, heh.).

So we had to write a note to her teacher and argue the grade. I personally think that its just plain stupid to have children exchange papers and grade each other's work anyhow. Its simple laziness on the teacher's part to not take them home and grade them properly.

I ran into an old friend in an unlikely place yesterday. Joey Z. (who's last name I can't spell =) ) was my brother Ron's friend, really- but he's always been like a really close friend of the family. I haven't seen him much in the past five years or so, though- once at his brother's funeral, and twice at my house, heh. But yesterday, there he was, helping the contractor build our room. Joey was always kind of one of my heros. He was the guy that didn't look down on me for being Ron's kid sister, and he played guitar, and was really amused by my "valley girl" impersonation I did when I was 14 or so (he still meantions it every time I see him to this day,hehehe.). When his brother died in a house fire, Joey tried to save his life, Ron said. He got singed up, and couldn't get in there in time. It was very sad. Now, he takes care of his aging mother who has Altzimers. Joey isn't rich, or famous, or successful by any of society's measures, but to me, he's still a hero. There's just some people that are like that- you can see them just every now and then, but they still give a special something to your life. Funny thing is, he ran into Aus today at Wal-Mart =). So there's twice in two days we saw someone I haven't seen for years before. Odd, no?

Another one of my heros, of course, is Aus. He takes care of me, and three children that are mine from a previous marriage, and loves us all. He's helpful, kind, and wonderful (and pretty much restored my faith that there are some good men out there.

Another person I admire is my brother Ron. He's a very kindhearted person, who knows a lot about history and does talks for the city he lives in, and he takes care of his sick wife. He and my brother Joe and my niece Jolene come over every Sunday for family dinners.

I saw a thing in the paper today about some poetry reading contest they were having in a cafe for cash prizes, and another one just for fun. I was thinking of trying my hand at one or both of them, but I don't know. There's just something about getting up and saying "here's my work, give me money if you like it" that's sort of disturbing. But still, it could be fun.

Aus brought home a DVD from work today, and we all watched it. My parents are amazed by DVD technology, hehe. They just can't believe that the little disc can hold so much movie, and be such a fine quality. Then again, they were pretty stumped by VCR's, too (at least there new one doesn't continually blink 12:00 at them, though).

The kids get off of school on the 12th. I have some activities planned for them so hopefully they won't get too bored and rammy over the summer.

We got a postcard from Kara in Washington , DC today! I miss her ={

Worked halfheartedly on some webpages, blech. I need to get my computer in a regular room so I can actually work on that stuff a bit better.

Got the phone bill today, and there were no horendous "You called fivethousand hours of long distance" surprises on it, so I think this internet access number is indeed local (Dang conflicting reports). NJ has one of the most flucked up phone systems around.
