Food allergies

Is it possible to be allergic to soda, or a chemical or flavoring in soda? I have a lot of allergies I already know of (seasonal allergies, latex, strawberries, beets, fish and shellfish, chlorine, etc.) - but this is a more recent development. Could it be the caffeine?

It started about two weeks ago. Immediately after drinking a diet wild cherry pepsi (I had nothing else to drink or eat that day), I started breaking out into hives. I don't usually drink a lot of soda, and when I do it's usually one of two things 1) root beer or 2) ginger ale . But tonight I was out, and I had two large cups of Doctor Pepper. A few hours later I was lying in bed sick to my stomach, and noticed that I've got hives again.

Just so you know, the Wild Cherry Pepsi was diet ; the Doctor Pepper was not. What I usually drink are diet drinks like Crystal Light and generic versions thereof, skim milk, and water. Occasionally an herbal tea.
