Jonathan Rice...wtf?

...why is this CD so damn good?

I'll admit that maybe I was a bit prejudiced against him - the couple of times I saw him hanging around before and after RK concerts, he wasn't all that impressive. He was just kind lurking around Jenny, and being kinda whiny. I thought he looked/sounded a little like a 14 year old boy.

Well... so... I got this CD for free, so I gave it a listen. And... it's very awesome. It opens with an instrumental number written by Nate Walcott, and the whole thing is pretty consistently good. And his voice is deep and strong. Where does it come from? I'm so confused...

He's also going to be playing Roy Orbison in an upcoming movie. So... I have this newfound kinda-almost-respect for Jonathan Rice. How creepy is that?

The old saying about not judging a book by its cover apparently also applies to musicians, yeah. But hey, occasionally we forget that- and this album just reminded me. Yay Jonathan Rice!
