We were missing our dear
jonnyquest72 and his half-ogre, so here's the recap for him:
While drying out on the shore, the group was approached by a mage in red robes who promptly shot them with a color spray... then died. We discovered upon body looting that he was delivering a note to the commander of the group we killed saying not to attack the boat (oops on their part) because it contained a diplomat from Waterdeep (Nyla's character Jayden). A little too late for that. Oh, and also, the reason he hit us with a colorspray was because
themightydrew had a little cap gun that shot streamers, hehe. So we got... well, streamed. It was funny. After that, the group made their way through the woods with Muselix in front (Drew was NPC'ing him for the night) as our advance scout, keeping an eye out for danger, followed by Barrel (who constructed torches out of the red-robed dead mage's clothes and some branches and oil, etc.). It was very-very-cold. Ambria complained a lot, hehe, and did not get along well with Jayden. So they got onto the main road heading for Luskin, and Jayden forged papers to make herself seem there on official business. Ambria was even more annoyed when the rest of the group had to pretend to be her retainers in order to get past the guards - who told them to keep Muselix on a 'tight leash', hehe. More annoyance came when the 'diplomat' had to come up with seven gold to pay a road tax, and didn't have it, so Ambria had to shell it out. Needless to say, she was rather cranky by the time they got there. Though she got less cranky, when the city seemed to be happy to see Jayden to the point that they gave everyone nice accommodation that included warm baths, a guy to style hair, etc. Ambria, Grant, and Butterfly had some new clothing etc. made in town while they were there - then Jayden brought up that they'd need horses, and mentioned that she had 'plenty of money' which pissed Ambria off further because if she'd had plenty of money, why did -they- have to pay for the tax? So Ambria got Jayden (after much fighting) to buy horses for the entire party, and they were ready to go after a meeting Jayden had with the lord of Luskin. At the meeting, they discovered that the Lady Arabeth who was supposed to be down with Nasher in Neverwinter helping him...was in Luskin being all evil and stuff. Jayden was asked to deliver an order/request/whatever for Neverwinter's surrender. So now they're off to Neverwinter so she can do that, and so Ambria can try to talk to Nasher about her problems- though since thirty years have passed, she's not even sure they're relevant anymore and is having a kind of crisis. She's said that she's going to try and be nicer to Jayden considering the whole 'she bought horses' and 'got us de-statued' thing, but it still feeling rather unhappy about how suddenly it's the Jayden show, while Ambria's life has been even more completely ruined.
Me, in an out of character sense, I'm having mixed feelings about the game. I feel bad for my character who seems to be suffering more and more unhappiness, and it does seem that so much of everything is focused on Nyla's character now (which is sucky from the standpoint that she just got there, while the rest of us have been playing and struggling and fighting things all along) - so it's kind of frustrating. But I also know that
themightydrew likely has some grand underlying plan, and I trust him as a DM, so I'm guessing that this isn't just the grossly unfair one-character-being-the-star-of-everything that it seems. So we'll see.
