Statue in the Rain

Jan 12, 2002 11:29

I want to tear down your walls,
Stone by stone, brick by brick.
But I'm just a sad, scared girl.
Those walls are ten feet thick.

Time has worn down your heart,
Like a statue in the rain.
I want to heal your shattered soul.
To kiss away all your pain.

I want to mean all to you,
To be your reason to believe,
In better brighter things,
And a love that doesn't leave.

When I look in your eyes,
I see nothing back at me,
Why can't you close them?
And learn at last to see.

Let go and free your heart,
From it's solid iron cage,
Feel something, anything,
Even sorrow or darkest rage.

I would take your anger,
Find a way to deal,
If you had some madness,
Then at least you'd feel.

My faded statue in the rain,
If I cover you in my arms,
Can I fix your broken places,
Keep you safe from harm?

Sleep to dream of future,
Where you might hold my hand,
And turn to me and smile,
Say at last you understand.
