Taking a break from preparing Christmas services, I watched Doctor Who 4.10: "Midnight". It's bloody scary. Serious watching-from-behind-the-couch stuff. So it was nice to be distracted by the utter familiarity of the actor playing young Jethro Cane. I checked and, yes, it was Merlin: Colin Morgan!
I went to check Russell T. Davies' The Writer's Tale, which like all good fans I had close at hand, to see if RTD had said anything about young Colin. A couple of entries:
Also, we've auditioned a very handsome Goth-type Jethro. Those eyes! His name is Colin Morgan. (p. 312)
and
More importantly, Colin Morgan is beautiful. You meet him in real life and think, yeah, nice, sweet. But he's one of those lucky bastards that the camera absolutely loves. All cheekbones and black hair and mmm! He's a seriously excellent actor, too. Every line, he makes a really interesting choice. (p. 315)
That's a pre-Merlin Morgan. How very cool to have RTD commenting on him.
Of course, most fannish-types will probably already have enjoyed this collision, but it's brightened up my pre-Christmas life.
Okay, back to work!
