Two nativity services with "on-the-spot" nativity plays. (Who wants to be Mary? Who wants to be Herod?) My family came to the second and my niece and cousin were angels while my nephew was a wise person.
Then in the evening a "Blue Christmas" Service, which gathered some of the people whose loved ones I have buried during the year for a time of quiet reflection and candle lighting. Seemed to go well and people said they really appreciated it. (And some of them hugged me - I suspect I get a lot more hugs than older male ministers do.)
So, a day that feels very worthwhile. But, oh boy am I looking forward to tomorrow's day off!
