CHARACTER INFORMATION-
Canon Character and Series: Chie Satonaka, Persona 4
In-Game Name: Chie Satonaka
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Position & Ship (first and second choice for position please): Airman or Powder Monkey, Convoy
Appearance: Chie isn’t very tall, but she’s not short either. She has short, bob-length brownish-blonde, straight hair and is fond of shorter skirts. She always wears thick boots designed to be kicking weapons, and occasionally has shin guards to keep her legs from breaking.
Her favorite colors are green and yellow, and she almost always has one or the other (if not both) in her outfits. She’s a very casual young lady.
Personality: First and foremost, Chie is a stubborn fighter. She rarely takes ‘no’ as a final answer and is always ready to fight for a good cause. Bullying? She’ll fight it. Murders? She’ll fight those. Messing up her favorite recording of a radio show? She’ll kick your ass. She’s especially eager to fight for her friends and justice, which is part of the reason she wants to be a cop when she gets older.
On the surface, Chie is perfectly comfortable with herself, but until recently, she was secretly insecure and relying on her friend Yukiko’s dependence to boost her own self-esteem. Chie felt that, as a tomboy, she wasn’t as good as her feminine best friend, and having said friend rely on her made her feel special and important. With the help of Souji and Yosuke, however, she moved on from that and is now considerably happier with herself, though she is still doubtful and unsure.
Chie’s not the brightest bulb in the box, but that might just be because she has better things to than study.
When faced with the affection of, say, Souji, Chie starts to get flustered and embarrassed. She doesn’t know how to handle being treated like a real, ‘normal’ girl very well, though so far blushing seems to work out okay.
She also really loves meat. Don’t make fun of her for it; you’ll wind up with a critical hit somewhere you really don’t want one.
Abilities/Weapons: Her abilities and weapons are basically kicking (actually, she’s fairly competent in a few different martial arts) and her boots or greaves. Even her Persona, Tomoe, is primarily physical, though she can occasionally whip up a weak ice spell. Tomoe (actually Tomoe Gozen, but Chie never calls her that) looks like an incredibly fit young woman in a skin-tight yellow body suit with gray hair, gray armor-skirt, and a pointy, shark fin looking head. She carries a huge double ended spear. Chie calls Tomoe, usually, by thinking about her or calling her name and kicking the tarot card (Tomoe is of the Chariot Arcana) that appears before her.
Tomoe grants Chie no extra abilities she can use on her own. Chie requires the help of Tomoe to do anything but kick during a fight.
How well can your character hack?: Not well at all.
Weaknesses: Chie’s biggest weakness, aside from magic (especially fire magic), is her sense of justice. She will occasionally go after something too big and end up needing a lot of help. Also, Chie is still insecure, even after facing her Shadow. Her Persona, while strong, requires a lot of mental and physical strength, and it drains Chie to use her for any extended period of time. Tomoe is a very Emergencies Only power.
Tomoe's ice affinity weakens Chie to fire. Unless the fire spell is incredibly strong, it won't be a one-hit KO, but it WILL hurt much more than it would, say, Yosuke. The thing Chie finds interesting is, while she is weak to fire, Yukiko, her best friend, is weak to ice.
History: Chie was born and raised in the tiny town of Inaba near Tulgim. Life in Inaba was, predictably, uneventful, but it was eventful enough for Chie, and she liked it.
She met Yukiko Amagi when the two were young, and they quickly became inseparable, with Chie acting the part of protector to the more docile Yukiko. Not much happened in Inaba until, when Chie was about fifteen or so, a big-name chain of stores moved in, bringing with it declining business for the Inaba based stores and a dorky boy about her age. Chie wasn’t exactly friends with the boy (Yosuke), but she didn’t outright hate him like many of the other kids.
Then, one day, a famous politician’s mistress was murdered, her body found hanging from impossibly high places in town without any signs of what killed her. It intrigued Chie, but she was unable to do anything about it.
A short time after, another body was found, this time belonging to a student at Chie’s school. Again, she was curious and wanted to know more, but couldn’t.
And then Yukiko went missing. Chie, naturally, was panicking, and was willing to do anything to find her best friend.
Even go into suspicious castle-like places with Yosuke and the new kid, Souji Seta. While Chie was in there, she learned about Shadows and Persona, eventually meeting her Shadow. It was all of the things Chie hated about herself-insecurity, reliance on Yukiko’s constant dependence on her, all the dark in Chie’s subconscious. She beat it, thanks to Yosuke and Souji, and the three continued on trying to save Yukiko.
After they saved her, they saved others and eventually became an investigation team of sorts, being the only people who could fight the murders and try to solve them. When things stopped turning up in the town, they all decided to split up. Chie hung around for a while, determined to run every lead to the ground back home before hitching a ride on the first ship that stopped.
