Photos and updates

I'm not really going to get anything sewn tonight, so I might as well post some photos and updates.

To get an idea of what this thing feels like, imagine a giant hot-pad. The quilting and padding make it a bit stiff like that. It's not particularly heavy (yet), it just feels substantial.

Not too bad! Considering I hate using thimbles, I'm actually doing ok. The hemp, though heavy, is a loose enough weave that the quilting is pretty easy on my fingertips. The last hemp I worked with was so stiff and solid that I swore I wouldn't ever hand sew anything like that again. But this slides right through, even the many layers.

I hate using thimbles as well, but I've found that the leather quilting thimbles are not too bad once I've broken them in. Looks awesome - I look forward to seeing the finished product!
